Leon Wyczółkowski (1852-1936) was one of the most famous painters of the Young Poland movement and a principal artist of the Polish Realism in art of the interwar period.
Wyczółkowski painted dramatic landscapes, nudes, and pastoral scenes with impasto and impressionist effects. His work is characterized by a richness of form and complex technical means.
His representative works are Plowing in Ukraine (1892), Wading Fishermen (1891), Nude (1908), Portrait of Karol Estreicher (1905), Irene Solska (1899) and others.
