India 1949 75th Anniversary of UPU 3 and Half Annas
In 1949, India issued a set of four commemorative stamps to mark the 75th anniversary of the establishment of the Universal Postal Union (U.P.U.). The stamps were issued on 10th October 1949 and carried the denominations of 9 paisa, 2 annas, 3 and a half annas, and 12 annas. These stamps were part of the British Commonwealth Omnibus Issue on U.P.U.
The stamps were printed at the Security Printing Press, Nashik, using the Offset lithography printing technique. They carry a perforation of comb 13. The numbers printed were not very high. The 3-and-a-half and 12 anna varieties were printed at only 800,000 and are considered uncommon.
