In 1945, Postage Due stamps with a new black design were issued, bearing the country name and value in black print. Marcelino Norte de Almeida designed and engraved the stamps, and the printing was done at Casa da Moeda de Portugal, Lisboa. The printing was done using the Typography technique. Perforation was comb11½ x 12. The inscription had IMPERIO COLONIAL PORTUGUESE inscribed on the top and PORTEADO at the bottom. In the centre, ESTADO DA INDIA was printed in black, and the denomination under that was in black as well. The stamps were printed in the denominations of 2R, 3R, 4R, 6R, 1T and 2T.
