Portuguese India – Postage Due
1904/ 1914
A government order necessitated the issue of postage due stamps in 1904. The stamps were designed by José Sérgio de Carvalho e Silva and printed using typography at Casa sa Moeda de Portugal, Lisbon. The stamps were simple in form, a dual colour design with name and denomination marked as a second impression in black. The top inscription read INDIA with the denomination at the center, while the bottom read RECEBER in the same colour as the design.
