1956
On 24th March 1956, the government of Portuguese India commemorated 450 years of Portuguese settlement in India. Three sets of six stamps each were issued, illustrating famous men, viceroys and forts in Portuguese towns. The stamps were inscribed with ‘450 Aniversario da Fundaçao do Estado da India 1505 – 1955’. The stamps were printed in a multicoloured design at Litografia Nacional S.A., Porto.
