Morvi Second Issue – Maharaja Lakhdirji Waghji
1934-1935
Maharaja Lakhdirji Waghji Sahib Jadeja (1876–1957) was one of the most notable rulers of the princely state of Morvi, located in present-day Gujarat. He was a visionary leader and a progressive monarch who played a pivotal role in modernizing Morvi during his reign. His contributions are still remembered as foundational in the state’s development.
He ascended the throne in 1922, succeeding his father, Thakur Sahib Waghji II Rawaji. He maintained cordial relationships with the British and focussed on administrative reforms, public welfare and education.
