Indore Official Stamps

1904-1906

The princely state of Indore issued a series of official service stamps specially overprinted to designate them for government use. These overprints, often marked as ‘SERVICE’ or similar inscriptions, distinguished official correspondence from personal or commercial mail and were strictly used within government offices and administrative departments of Indore. The stamps were overprints on the 1904-1906 postal stamps of Maharaja Tukoji Rao Holkar III and bore the inscription ‘SERVICE’ in English and black ink.
