1865

The 8 Pies stamp was followed by the Half Anna stamp in December 1865. issued in shades of pale blue and blue, these stamps were set in Die 1 and Die 1B. More 8 pies were issued in shades of mauve and purple. 

In December 1865, the One Anna stamp was issued in shades of deep brown to chocolate brown. At the same time, Two anna stamps were issued in colours varying from yellow, orange and finally brown orange. 

The stamps were printed on yellowish-to-white paper and carried the Elephant head watermark on each stamp. Imperforates are known to exist in some varieties.
