King George V Multiple Small Watermarks

1932-1936

When De La Rue started printing from the Security Printing Press in Nashik, the design remained more or less similar except for the watermarks on the printing paper. The watermarks were now multiple stars instead of a single star, with 964 on each sheet instead of the 256 used earlier.

Each sheet had between 256 and 320 stamps, depending on the presence or absence of Jubilee lines. The Rupee value stamps were printed 96 on a sheet.

The postal rates were revised on 25th February 1932 and new values of 9 pies and 1 anna 3 pies were issued. The stamps intended for Revenue were separated from 1941 and the inscription of ‘POSTAGE AND REVENUE’ was replaced by ‘POSTAGE’. 6 anna stamps were issued in 1936, designed by Mr. T.I. Archer, Artist Engraver in Nashik.
