King George VI Victory Issue
1946
King George VI’s Victory Issue series of stamps were issued to commemorate the Allied victory in World War II. The design showed ‘Victory’ and a portrait of the King, and came in different colours and denominations. The stamps were printed using lithography on sheets of 128 with multiple stars.
The Victory Issue stamps came in the denominations of Nine pies (yellow-green), one and a half annas (dull violet), three and a half annas (bright violet), and twelve annas (claret). These were the last stamps issued under the British Raj.
